25,000 emergencies
That’s how many friends, family and
neighbors we care for each year in our Emergency Services and Urgent Care Department.
All day every day including weekends and holidays, physicians, nurses and
other medical professionals who specialize in emergency medicine are here for
you. And from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day our Urgent Care is open with physician
assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and emergency medical technicians who
can help you through life’s smaller emergencies.
Riverview’s emergency
entrance is located on the west side of the hospital near 3rd Street and Riverview
Expressway. One side of the ambulance garage is available to drop off patients
who need assistance into the emergency department. Patients who are able can
walk in and register at the Emergency/Urgent Care reception desk. A registered
nurse who has special training to assess conditions will determine whether
the patient needs urgent care or traditional emergency care.
At least one of
Riverview’s emergency medicine physician specialists
is on duty at all times to provide and coordinate emergency care in the department.
Specialty consultation is also available within 30 minutes by other members
of the Riverview Hospital Medical Staff, including family physicians and internists,
surgeons, orthopedists, obstetrics/gynecologists, pediatricians, ophthalmologists,
ENTs and anesthesiologists.
Riverview Urgent Care, designed to handle medical
conditions for which the patient can quickly receive treatment and be released
home, is provided by physician assistants and nurse practitioners. Urgent
care is designed to supplement, not replace, the clinic doctor as the primary
provider of medical care.
