Laboratory Services

Even if you see a doctor in another city, you can ask to have your lab work performed locally at Riverview Medical Center.

Riverview Medical Center’s laboratory provides comprehensive, around-the-clock service to Riverview Hospital, Riverview's emergency department, Riverview Family Clinic, and other area medical facilities.

The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art machines using the latest computer technology. Diagnostic services offered include phlebotomy, pathology, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, chemistry, special chemistry, microbiology, immunology and blood bank.

The lab's physician staff includes two full-time pathologists. Both are board certified in clinical/anatomical pathology, and one is board certified in cytopathology. Pathologists are Hi Young Hong, M.D., Medical Director, and Moon-woo Nam, M.D.

The lab's professional/technical staff consists of more than 25 medical technologists/technicians, cytotechnologists and histotechnologists. Some specific services provided by the department include autopsy, fine needle aspiration biopsy and blood transfusion. The lab is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Riverview’s laboratory also offers lab services to all local physician offices as well as other hospitals and medical offices. This service is operated with courier services for specimen pick-up Monday through Friday and through mail or commercial courier services.
