Riverview Offers Convenient, High-Quality Therapy Services
May 21, 2007
With three convenient community locations and a full array of high-quality physical, occupational and speech therapy services, Riverview Hospital Association is meeting the growing rehabilitation needs of South Wood County and nearby residents.
The flagship Riverview Rehabilition Center, a department of Riverview Hospital, includes a 10,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility in Riverview’s Bethke Building at 1041 Hill Street in Wisconsin Rapids. This facility includes a large gymnasium with leading-edge diagnostic and rehabilitation equipment, including the same strength training machines used by the Green Bay Packers. There are also 12 individual treatment/exam rooms, a pediatric room, a speech therapy room, whirlpool facilities and bathroom and kitchen training areas for clients with functional disabilities.
Since 2005, Riverview has expanded its services to offer rehabilitation at Riverview Family Clinic Nekoosa, 1015 Angelus Drive, Nekoosa, and at Riverview Family Clinic - Lakes Area Medical Center at 1160 Rome Center Drive, town of Rome, in northern Adams County.
Riverview Rehabilitation Center provides a full complement of therapies, including orthopaedic therapy, pediatric therapy, speech therapy, work conditioning, vestibular dysfunction treatment, incontinence treatment, neurological services, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) treatment, lymphedema treatment and aquatic therapy.
The center is also the only one in south central Wisconsin to offer the SaeboFlex Functional Tone Management Arm Training Program. SaeboFlex is designed for patients who have lost hand function due to a stroke or injury. The device is fitted to the non-functional hand and features a spring-loaded finger extension system that gives new hope for regaining the patient’s ability to grasp and release. Research has shown that repetitive use of the SaeboFlex helps re-establish the pathways in the brain that control hand and arm function. In time the patient regains mobility and strength, whether the stroke or injury occurred recently or a long time ago.
Riverview’s physical, occupational and speech therapists assess clients’ conditions, develop plans of care, and establish functional goals with clients. Rehabilitation services are available only with a physician’s referral. Even if you see a doctor from another community or facility, you may request to rehabilitate at any of the three convenient Riverview Rehabilitation locations.
Appointments for all three locations may be made by calling the Wisconsin Rapids office at 715-421-7478.
